Facilities Description
Lobby
The Lobby serves as the hub of 3e; the large open space provides ample room for events and children¡¯s activities and links the different areas of the school. Designed specifically with young children in mind, the lobby area is an exciting and stimulating area. The central point is occupied by an echo ceiling where children can learn how their voice sounds when it carries. Other activities include a cloud machine, mirror shape puzzle, coin wishing well and fish tank.
Classrooms
The classrooms are designed to provide an open and airy learning space for children. They are all fully equipped with materials and activities to stimulate the children and feature age-appropriate objects such as sensory tables, dramatic play kitchens and spacious block areas. While classrooms have an open-plan layout so that children can move freely between activities, teachers use the space to create different sections ensuring that there is always a large space available for circle time and a quieter area for children as they require it.
Each classroom has its own toilet and hand washing facilities and classrooms are cleaned regularly throughout the school day.
Gym room
3e benefits from a large and sunny gym room. This multi-purpose space can accommodate many children at one time and is used for indoor play, after-school activities, pre-school and kindergarten lunches and music class. The gym has a selection of balls, mats and soft low-level climbing structures which allow children the freedom to explore their large motor skills.
This room is also used during family and community events to hold activities and the small stage at one end provides the perfect location for the end of year graduation.
Outside
Unusually for central Beijing, 3e is fortunate to have a vast garden and play area. This allows children the scope to explore their natural environment in a secure area. Our outdoor space also includes a climbing structure and slide, a sandpit, a children¡¯s vegetable patch, large decking area and a woodland garden. In the front of the school, children are able to ride on a selection of bicycles and tricycles to help improve their balance.
The school also has direct access (through a secure gate) to the neighbouring Side Park which allows teachers a vast available area to take children on nature walks.
Art room
One of the unique aspects of 3e is that it offers a dedicated art room for pre-school students and older. The art room, under the direction of our resident art teacher, is well-stocked with paints, brushes, paper and arts and crafts materials and offers children ample table space to make their creations.
Library & family centre
Our library and family centre houses a selection of around 2,500 English and Chinese children¡¯s books which are available for families to borrow through the school librarian. There is a cosy sofa area where parents are welcome to read with their children after school.
The family centre also has a large ¡®quiet-time¡¯ area with cushions and floor puzzles which younger children use after lunch and which is available to families during school hours.
Children¡¯s kitchen
Our children¡¯s kitchen has been designed for younger children with key features such as low-level surfaces and sink, chairs and plenty of table space. Our weekly after-school cookery class takes place here and all children have the opportunity to enjoy some simple cooking as part of their 3e curriculum.
